Pre-announcement: Funding opportunities in Quantum Technologies (August 2021)
The Quantum Technology Call for International Networks aims to establish the UK at the forefront of world-leading collaborative ventures in key emerging areas of Quantum Technology. Funding is available to bring together researchers, industry and other groups to form networks with the aim of developing international collaborations, therefore proposals must include international project partner(s) and demonstrate a commitment to the principles of trusted research. These networks must put measures, mechanisms and tools in place to enable virtual collaboration to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The call will go live in mid-August (provisional date is the 13th). Standard EPSRC eligibility criteria apply.

The call for Quantum Technology Career Development Fellowships are designed to support talented post-doctoral researchers, or those with equivalent experience, looking to lead their own research programme, transition from post-doctoral researcher to independent investigator and develop their research profile within the Quantum Technology sector. All Quantum Technology fields are open for fellowship applications but there will be an additional number of fellowships available through this call that will be sponsored by the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC). The call will go live 4th August and the pre announcement should be available on the UKRI funding web page by the end of June.

The Quantum Technologies and ICT themes at EPSRC are looking to bring together the quantum computing community with other ICT communities, to identify areas that would benefit from networking and research at the interface of quantum computing and ICT. The goal is to enable the communities to identify challenges, for both the shorter and longer term, that can be resolved through collaboration at the interface and that would be mutually interesting and beneficial, bringing together the expertise to deliver. A workshop is being held in June 2021 to bring together expertise from quantum computing and ICT, with the aim of identifying key challenges at the Quantum Computing / ICT interface. A funding call will open in August 2021, to help develop networking and research activities in one or more of the areas identified by the workshop.
