Call for funded collaboration by Cambridge Assessment

Closing date:
Friday, 16 October 2020

Do you have what Cambridge Assessment are looking for to develop a critical capability for the future of digital test delivery?

Who are Cambridge Assessment and what is this critical capability?
Cambridge Assessment is a department of the University of Cambridge, we provide education programmes and exams in over 170 countries, offering global recognition.
Digital test delivery is rapidly evolving, accelerated by the events of 2020, and with this goes the need to monitor tests that are taken remotely. Remote Invigilation.

What is Remote Invigilation?
The ability to monitor a test taken online. It’s also commonly referred to as Remote Proctoring (the American term for Invigilation) or Digital Invigilation.

What’s the aim?
Cambridge Assessment want to ensure that a test taken under remote conditions maintains the integrity of tests taken under traditional exam centre conditions.
The objective is to deliver a digital test taking experience that is right for our candidates and other stakeholders, with the knowledge that they are as secure and as valid as a test taken using traditional methods. In other words, we must provide a robust answer to the question: “How can we know the candidate did not cheat?”

What are we looking for from you?
There are many providers for remote invigilation but we are looking to you to work with us to develop this capability for Cambridge.
We are looking for colleagues from across the University of Cambridge to pitch to us their ideas on how to develop this essential capability for digital test delivery. Successful contenders will be expected to work with Cambridge Assessment teams to develop a funded solution.

Cambridge Assessment are not looking for a long-term academic research project, however, it will be looking for research to be carried out to ensure the right solutions are applied to our products, ensuring the integrity and validity of Cambridge Assessment examinations is maintained when delivered remotely. The initiative will be an evolving journey, are you interested to learn more about how you could contribute to some or all of it?
