EPSRC Digital Roads programme
This call is for applicants for the Data Science Industrial Research Fellow Role.
We are looking for an Industrial Research Fellow in Data Science for the EPSRC Digital Roads programme. You will be part of a cohort of 4 research fellows, your other colleagues will be specialists in the thematic area of Digital Twins, Smart Materials and Automation & Robotics.
You will be expected to base yourself in or near to Cambridge for the duration of the project as well as travel to Costain sites as necessary around the UK.
This 60-month programme is at the forefront of industrial research in the highways sector and will involve a significant collaboration between industry and academia.
Digital Roads is a 60-month programme that will offer an opportunity to be involved in our vision of creating a future where roads are documented in up-to-date digital twins and made of smart materials that are aware of their state and properties, while the road network lifecycle processes are data science driven and efficiently executed via automation and robotics.
The programme is funded in part by the EPSRC and the programme’s partners: Costain Ltd, National Highways and the University of Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity to join Costain and play a key role in a large project that has a combined grant total of £8.6 million.
Suitable applicants would have a PhD in Machine Learning, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or other cognate areas, who are up to date with the most effective contemporary techniques in analytics for data science. You will have the opportunity to develop and apply your skills on potentially a wide spectrum of problems in the infrastructure area and benefit from interactions with domain experts from Costain and the University of Cambridge. We strongly welcome applications from candidate with some relevant industry knowledge and experience.
