An opportunity has become available at University Information Services (UIS), for a Data Scientist with a background in the development and delivery of digital services.
You will join a growing team of user researchers, analysts and designers, working to transform products and services used by the University's ~60,000 students and staff.
Your work will be varied and challenging, including improving the experience of prospective students applying to Cambridge, and enabling researchers to find and manage grants to support their research activities.
This role is based in University Information Services' offices on the West Cambridge Site, currently working remotely although ordinarily we expect team members to spend some time on-site in Cambridge.
As a Data Scientist you will:
- Work within a multidisciplinary team
- Plan, conduct (sometimes in collaboration with other teams) and supervise data collection and measurement activities to support the design, development and continuous improvement of the University's digital services.
- Ensure results are shareable and understandable though analysis, synthesis and presentation of findings and insights.
- Communicate findings to the team and the wider organisation, helping develop empathy for our users and inform evidence-based decisions.
Are you the right candidate?
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams to deliver continuous improvement.
- Experience of advocating for data-driven decision-making, and engaging sceptical colleagues and stakeholders in data findings.
- Experience of aligning measurement, data collection and data analysis activities with organisational objectives to help inform decision-making.
- Understanding of the diversity of users in the University and the need to make services usable and accessible for everyone
