Genetics Analyst in Cognition Genomics, NIHR BioResource for Translational Research
Department of Haematology
We are recruiting a statistical geneticist in Cognition Genomics who can lead statistical genomic and epigenomic analyses for cognitive and population genetics related studies. The postholder will ideally have experience in statistical genetics, complex disorder genetics, dementia, cognitive, or behavioural genetics, and show a keen interest in neurodegeneration research.
About the job:
This is an exciting position that will play a vital role in leading research in one of the UK's largest long read sequencing of dementia related cognition profiling, as well as UK population genetics, using samples and data from the NIHR BioResource.
The postholder will hold a relevant PhD in statistical genetics or bioinformatics, and experience in the generation or analysis of high-throughput genetic and genomic data and bioinformatics. Optimally, this will include genome wide association studies, and/or exome or whole genome sequencing analyses. Alternatively, you will have experience in large scale biomarker informatics.
The role will require good skills in statistical analysis, machine learning, preferably in R and/or python, and LINUX/bash. You will be able to work independently, to maintain excellent relationships with our collaborators. High quality written communication and presentation skills are essential.
