Research Associate in Computational Geophysics (Fixed Term)
Department of Earth Sciences
We would like to appoint a post-doctoral researcher in computational geophysics at the University of Cambridge for a fixed term of 36 months. The focus of the project is the development of new open-source finite-element code for forward and adjoint modelling of glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) and sea level change. The successful candidate will contribute to the development this code, taking the lead on the high performance computing aspects, while working closely with the PI on theoretical developments. This work forms part of broader collaborative efforts to address the GIA inverse problem in laterally heterogeneous Earth models. Work in this area is necessary for studies of both past and present-day climate change while it will also provide valuable constraints on the mantle's structure and rheology.
