Research Associate to Kinds of intelligence (Fixed Term)
Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence, Cambridge
This is an exciting opportunity for you to join the research team at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence (CFI) as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, working on a two-year project in collaboration with the OECD entitled "Cognitive Capabilities in AI agents: Translating between AI Evaluation and Job Tasks in the human workplace". The project aims to establish a pathway of translation between current evaluations of AI capabilities and the cognitive requirements of specific tasks and roles within the workforce. This work will help us to understand which roles really are in danger of becoming automated with the increasing sophistication of AI, as well as where AI may be of use to augment human endeavors. The work will be drawing from multiple disciplines, but primarily from computer science, psycholinguistics and animal and developmental psychology. The appointment will be for 24 months in the first instance, and is based in Cambridge.
CFI is a highly interdisciplinary research centre addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by artificial intelligence (AI). This post is situated within the Kinds of Intelligence research programme, based in central Cambridge. You should have (or be about to achieve) a PhD in a relevant field and should provide strong evidence of potential for research and publication at the highest level, as well as strong interest in engagement with the cognitive sciences. You will work alongside an interdisciplinary team (particularly those in the RECOG-AI project (http://lcfi.ac.uk/projects/kinds-of-intelligence/recog-ai/) and should be able to work well with others of divergent expertise. You will also be expected to liaise with representatives from the OECD and experts in occupational psychology.
