University Assistant Professor of Mathematics of Information & Director of Taught Postgraduate Education

Applications are invited for an Assistant Professor in the Mathematics of Information to commence on 1 October 2022 or by agreement. This is a new post in the broad field of the Mathematics of Information, including but not restricted to applied and computational analysis, mathematical optimisation, inverse problems and the mathematical foundations of machine learning. Willingness to engage in an interdisciplinary and cross-cutting research is very desirable.

The postholder will be part of the Cantab Capital Institute for Mathematics of Information (https://www.ccimi.maths.cam.ac.uk/), hosted within the Faculty of Mathematics. It accommodates research activity on fundamental mathematical theory and methodology for understanding, analysing, processing and simulating data. Data science research performed in the Institute is at the highest international level, aiming to extract the relevant information from large- and high-dimensional data with predictable certainty.
