Networking and talks: AI for better brain and mental health

Monday, 10 June 2024, 5.00pm to 7.00pm
Organiser: Cambridge Network

Join Cambridge Network for an evening of networking and talks exploring how research using AI and digital tools can help with early dementia and neurodegenerative disease diagnoses, which will result in better and more timely treatments and enhance the wellbeing of patients and their families. Our speakers Prof Zoe Kourtzi, Professor of Computational Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge and Dr Nick Taptiklis, Cambridge Cognition will look at AI and digital tools for better brain health on Monday 10th June.

In a recent interview with BioBeat Prof Kourtzi says “The statistics about dementia are overwhelming: 50 million people worldwide live with dementia, 1 in 2 of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime, a new patient is diagnosed every 3 seconds." Prof Kourtzi will explain how her research group brings together behaviour, neuroscience, computational science and clinical practice expertise to understand the workings of the brain in health and disease. Improving early prediction and prognosis when treatments can be most effective has strong potential to enhance the wellbeing of patients and their families, while reducing inequalities and costs in healthcare systems.

Prof Kourtzi will be joined by Dr Nick Taptiklis, Head of R&D at Cambridge Cognition, a leading provider of digital health solutions for brain health assessments, benefitting therapeutic areas such as Alzheimer's, MS, ADHD, Depression and more.
