Data Scientist (Fixed Term)
Department of Paediatrics
The Department of Paediatrics are seeking to recruit a talented data scientist to lead on the analysis of long-term health outcomes for children recruited into the Next Generation Children's Project (500+ families; NIHR Rare Diseases Bioresource). Whole genome sequencing (WGS) data for participants will be linked to subsequent health data, accessed through the EPIC electronic medical records system, with a view to determining the long-term clinical utility of WGS and further understanding of rare genetic variants. The successful applicant will also expected to be involved in data analysis for similar linked cohorts within the scope of paediatrics and obstetrics, for example the POPStar study (4000+ mother/baby pairs). The role will be based within the Department of Paediatrics, University of Cambridge, and will involve close liaison with the NIHR Rare Diseases Bioresource, Next Generation Children's Project team, POP study team, clinical bio-informaticians, and other research groups across the School of Clinical Medicine.
The role will require an applicant who is able to liaise independently with a variety of stake-holders to facilitate data linkage set-up and to implement practical solutions to the inevitable challenges of developing and utilising standardised data items from complex data sets.
