Research Assistant/Associate in Exascale Computing for Advanced Engineering

Closing date:
Wednesday, 16 October 2024

Department of Engineering, Central Cambridge, UK

A position is available for a Research Assistant/Associate funded by the UK Research and Innovation ExCALIBUR Programme. ExCALIBUR is the UK programme for Exascale computing (https://excalibur.ac.uk/). The post holder will contribute to a collaborative research project on Exascale computing, which is led by the University of Cambridge (Engineering and Applied Mathematics) and is in collaboration with Imperial College London, University College London, and the University of Oxford. The collaboration focuses on Exascale computing for problems governed by partial differential equations.

This post will research GPU accelerated finite element method solvers. It also provides opportunities to visit and work closely with collaborating partner universities, and to collaborate with overseas Exascale computing partners. There will also be opportunities to contribute to open-source scientific software projects, including the FEniCS Project (https://fenicsproject.org/).

The key responsibilities and duties are to undertake research into Exascale computing with an emphasis on GPU-accelerated finite element method solvers, dissemination of research results through published papers and conference presentations, and knowledge exchange through interaction with potential users of the research outputs.
