Research Associate - Bioinformatics/Data Science (Vassiliou Lab) (Fixed Term)
Department of Haematology
Applications are invited for the position of Research Associate - Bioinformatician in the group of Professor George Vassiliou in the Department of Haematology and the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus (https://www.stemcells.cam.ac.uk/people/pi/vassiliou). The Vassiliou group is working at the forefront of diagnosis, prevention and treatment of myeloid leukaemia and pre-leukaemia, using both experimental and computational methods.
The successful applicant will join another two bioinformaticians in the Vassiliou lab and interact closely with other Vassiliou team members and collaborators at the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute and beyond. They will use computational and statistical methods to investigate the interactions between ageing, germline genetic variation, somatic mutations and clonal haematopoiesis and decipher how these promote the development of myeloid leukaemia and related blood cancers. They will analyse large datasets from resources such as the UK Biobank and omics data from experimental studies performed by our team and collaborators, including from genomic, transcriptomic (bulk or single-cell), functional and therapeutic studies. There will also be opportunity to propose and develop their own projects within this field.
