Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics

A position exists for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics to work on verified algorithms for infinite-dimensional spectra, control and data science with Dr Matthew Colbrook to start in October 2023 or earlier by negotiation.

The PDRA will work on developing robust numerical methods for infinite-dimensional spectral computations and data-driven control (broadly understood) under the project entitled "Verified data-driven algorithms for control and neural network training" funded by the Isaac Newton Trust.

Duties include developing and conducting individual and collaborative research objectives, proposals and projects. The role holder will be expected to plan and manage their own research and administration, with guidance if required, and to assist in the preparation of proposals and applications to external bodies. You must be able to communicate material of a technical nature and be able to build internal and external contacts. You may be asked to assist in the supervision of student projects, the development of student research skills, and plan/deliver seminars relating to the research area. Full travel support for the PDRA to attend international conferences and seminars will be provided.
