Restricted call: EPSRC Turing AI World-Leading Researcher Fellowships: round three

Closing date:
Monday, 5 June 2023

EPSRC has announced the Turing AI World-Leading Researcher Fellowships: Round 3

These 5-year fellowships support established and talented researchers in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to undertake world-leading research to advance the field of AI in the UK. The funding is aimed at researchers who are conducting research into AI at a fundamental or theoretical level or working at the interface between AI and another discipline. Applicants who seek to apply current AI methods to an application area will not be funded. Fellows are expected to lead and build highly skilled interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary teams and to initiate, grow, and maintain strong relationships and collaborations with stakeholders across relevant sectors in the UK and internationally.

EPSRC will fund awards of £3-5m, funded at 80% full economic cost. While the funder states that researchers should be established, they also note that there are no standardised eligibility criteria for this fellowship due to the diversity of career paths in AI.

For more information, please see the call page, and in particular the "What we're looking for" and "Fellowship Expectations" sections. For the list of Turing AI World-Leading Researcher Fellows, please see here.
