Applications are invited for a University Assistant Professorship in the broad area of Machine Learning. The successful candidate will join the Computational and Biological Learning Lab (CBL) cbl.eng.cam.ac.uk in the Information Engineering Division. CBL combines expertise in machine learning with computational neuroscience. The candidate will lead a research programme in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, decision making, and theory and practice of deep learning.

The ESRC have announced their New Investigator Grant scheme. This scheme is suitable for early career researchers who have yet to make the transition to be an independent researcher. Proposals are welcome in any topic which falls within ESRC’s remit, including projects at the “interface with the wider sciences”, provided that social sciences accounts for at least 50% of the proposed research. The ESRC will award grants of between £100-350K (covered at 80%fEC).

An exciting opportunity exists for a Research Assistant / Associate to work on the project: "Advancing ethically informed socio-technical safety of AI systems in the public sector". This project investigates how local authorities in the UK can be equipped to effectively govern the integration of socio-technical ethical and safety principles into the deployment of AI systems for urban-scale decisions.
